9mobile Rebrands as T2, Sets Sights on Innovation and Growth

In a strategic move signaling a new chapter, 9mobile has officially announced the commencement of its rebranding to T2, embodying its renewed vision for market leadership and digital transformation. This transition forms a core part of the company’s comprehensive four-phase recovery plan, comprising Stabilisation, Modernisation, Transformation, and Growth, initiated after Lighthouse Telecoms acquired 9mobile in 2023 under the leadership of investor Thomas Etuh.

Since the acquisition, the company has undergone significant changes, including restructuring its board, appointing new executive leadership, and striking a landmark infrastructure-sharing deal with MTN Nigeria. This agreement, the first of its kind in Nigeria’s telecom sector, has already expanded the network’s coverage, capacity, and resilience nationwide.

Now entering the “Transformation” phase, the rebranding to T2 symbolizes the company’s commitment to innovation, superior customer experience, and digital lifestyle services. The new identity reflects a forward-looking, technology-driven, and customer-centric ethos tailored to Nigeria’s increasingly digital and mobile-first population.

Obafemi Banigbe, CEO of T2, stated, “This isn’t just a logo change; it’s a total evolution of who we are and how we deliver value. T2 embodies our dedication to innovation, resilience, and an enhanced customer experience. We are building a brand ready to thrive in the digital economy.”

Chairman Thomas Etuh emphasized the significance of the rebrand as a rebirth for the company, expressing gratitude to stakeholders and customers for their unwavering support through challenges. “Today marks a fresh start for 9mobile. Our journey has been tough, but driven by love for country and faith, we are rising again, reclaiming our position,” he affirmed.

The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, lauded T2’s bold move, urging the rebranding to reflect a deeper commitment to service excellence and innovation that benefits Nigeria’s digital economy. Similarly, Lagos State’s Secretary to the Government, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, highlighted the alignment between T2’s digital vision and the state’s development goals.

The phased rollout of the rebrand will ensure seamless service delivery to existing customers while gradually introducing the new T2 narrative. The brand’s core pillars—Speed, Smart Living, Digital Lifestyle, and Trust—aim to position T2 as a bridge between connectivity, culture, and innovation.

As Nigeria’s telecom sector enters a new decade, T2 is poised to lead, not just participate, in the ongoing digital revolution.
