Summer 9.0 Impact: Dolly Children Foundation Empowers Education & Digital Literacy Nationwide

The Dolly Children Foundation (DCF) has successfully wrapped up its four-week Summer 9.0 program, a free holiday initiative aimed at enhancing academic skills, digital literacy, and creative expression among children. This year, the program extended its reach beyond local community centers to impact children in Ogun, Lagos, Oyo, and Abuja, reflecting its broader national footprint.

Led by Founder and Convener Adedolapo Osuntuyi, the program offered structured learning in literacy, numeracy, arts, and technology. A standout feature was the digital creativity track, where children progressed from basic computer skills to developing websites using AI tools and designing storybooks with Canva, fostering innovation and confidence in digital skills.

The success of this year’s initiative was significantly supported by the Gamaliel and Susan Onosode Foundation (GAMSU Foundation), which funded teachers’ salaries and donated school materials, ensuring that participation remained free and accessible to all children. Their support also motivated the dedicated educators involved in the program.

In her closing remarks, Adedolapo Osuntuyi expressed gratitude: “Summer 9.0 has once again proven that when children are given the right platform, they can thrive. We are grateful to GAMSU Foundation for their unwavering support, enabling us to expand across Ogun, Lagos, Oyo, and Abuja. Our goal is to reach even more underserved communities in future editions.”

Mrs. Toyin Olanrewaju, Executive Director of GAMSU Foundation, emphasized the importance of equal access to quality education: “Partnering with Dolly Children Foundation aligns with our mission to empower the next generation. Ensuring no child is left behind due to limited resources is essential for building a brighter, more inclusive Nigeria.”

Ajoke Adeola, Founder of Reel Foundation, highlighted the transformative impact of the digital sessions: “Each edition reaffirms our commitment to education and empowerment. We’ve seen children transition from minimal digital exposure to creating websites and digital stories. Summer 9.0 demonstrates that with the right resources, children can surpass expectations and become confident digital innovators.”

With strong backing from GAMSU Foundation and support from Reel Foundation, the Dolly Children Foundation’s Summer 9.0 has reaffirmed its mission to bridge educational and digital gaps for underserved children. Preparations are already underway for Summer 10.0, with plans to broaden its reach even further across Nigeria.
