Eterna, Castrol Strengthen Partnership in Nigeria to Tackle Lubricant Adulteration

Eterna Industries Limited, the authorised distributor of Castrol products in Nigeria, has engaged in an intensive dialogue with lubricant distributors across the nation to accelerate business growth and control adulteration of its products.

According to a statement by the company, Castrol Limited has been in existence for over 125 years, and has been consistent in protecting engines and industries with its “high-quality” engine oils, fluids and greases.

During the 2025 national distributor conference held in Lagos, Bunmi Agagu-Adu, Managing Director of Eterna Industries Limited, touched on the company’s long-term partnership with Castrol and its impact on Nigeria’s economy.

Agagu-Adu said, “The long-term partnership with Castrol started around 1991. For the auto business, we started in 2017 when we began blending Castrol GTX in Nigeria. The collaboration has been ongoing for over 30 years, and it gets better. Castrol GTX 20W-50 is very adaptable to most cars in Nigeria. The fact that we are manufacturing a world-class lubricant in Nigeria means we are contributing to industrial growth in the country directly. There are other marine products we manufacture here; we are creating employment locally and ensuring that all other things that fit into the supply chain of lubricant distribution are centred here in Nigeria. With this, value is being added here in Nigeria.”

Agagu-Adu also urged distributors and vehicle owners to buy Castrol products from only Eterna Plc retail stations, which are about 83 across the country, or from their sub-distributors for authenticity.

She emphasised that buying through the right source is important in buying the right lubricant to maintain the productivity of vehicles.

The Castrol team assured that more high-quality products of the company will be introduced to the Nigerian market to meet the needs of the people.

The company also announced plans to introduce CASTROL ON, its line of advanced e-fluids for electric vehicles, to the Nigerian market. The move, it was said, underscores Castrol’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s evolving mobility landscape by delivering high-performance solutions tailored to the growing EV segment.

The statement added, “By bringing CASTROL ON to Nigeria, Castrol and Eterna aim to position the country’s automotive sector for future-ready energy solutions while reinforcing their shared goal of accelerating sustainable growth.”
