Olusesan Ogunyooye has been honored as the ‘Marketing Personality of the Year’ at the 2025 Marketing Edge Awards, recognizing his outstanding leadership as Head of Marketing at AXA Mansard and his significant contributions to the growth of the business environment and marketing profession across Africa.
Since joining AXA Mansard in 2021, Ogunyooye has spearheaded initiatives that have elevated the company’s brand presence in Nigeria. He has overseen the rollout of innovative campaigns aimed at increasing the brand’s visibility among youth and emerging customer segments, fostering cultural integration and brand domestication in the Nigerian market.
Expressing his gratitude, Ogunyooye said, “This recognition is truly special. It reflects the dedication and hard work of my team. Our mission is to help Nigerians understand and appreciate the vital role insurance plays in their lives. Seeing this effort acknowledged with such an award is incredibly fulfilling.”
He emphasized the evolving landscape of marketing in Nigeria, stating, “Marketing today combines data, creativity, and empathy. It’s about crafting messages and products that genuinely improve lives. I’m proud that this approach is being recognized by the Edge Awards.”
He dedicated the accolade to the AXA brand, highlighting its inspiring purpose: “Acting for human progress by protecting what matters. This purpose inspires us to dare, imagine, and push boundaries. It’s that daring spirit that has brought us this far and will propel us further.”
Under his leadership, AXA Mansard has garnered numerous awards, both locally and internationally. Beyond branding achievements, Ogunyooye’s commitment to social responsibility has seen the brand impact over 5,000 lives through various initiatives. Under the AXA Hearts in Action (AHIA) program, employees and agents contributed over 23,000 volunteering hours in 2024, underscoring the company’s societal engagement.
Prior to AXA Mansard, Ogunyooye served as Head of Marketing and Communications at Alpha Mead Group, leading campaigns across 11 countries. His notable projects included the rebranding of Alpha Mead, launching Nigeria’s first monthly rental product, and establishing Nigeria’s first Modula Healthcare Facility, earning him accolades such as the Sabre Awards.
He holds an MBA from Business School Netherlands, a BA in English Studies from Adekunle Ajasin University, and a Diploma in Mass Communications from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. He is also a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing Nigeria, a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK, and the Strategic Management Institute Nigeria.
