The €410 million Omi Eko Project, which aims to revolutionize waterway transportation across Lagos, has appointed Dr. Segun Alabi as its new Head of Communications and Media.
Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, the Special Adviser on Blue Economy to Lagos State’s Governor and Project Coordinator, expressed confidence in Dr. Alabi’s leadership in managing the project’s communication efforts. He highlighted Dr. Alabi’s extensive background in media relations, public affairs, and strategic communication.
In his new role, Dr. Alabi will oversee the development and implementation of communication strategies, media engagement, and the promotion of the project’s vision and sustainability goals.
Reacting to his appointment, Mr. Emmanuel stated: “Dr. Alabi is a highly accomplished Corporate Affairs professional with diverse experience spanning Pay TV, financial services, real estate, business membership organisations, and the manufacturing sector.”
Most recently, Dr. Alabi served as Assistant Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications at the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), where he managed corporate communications, public affairs, and event planning. His expertise covers reputation management, government relations, corporate social responsibility, stakeholder engagement, public policy advocacy, and social media strategies.
He is widely recognized as a skilled communications expert with a talent for strategically managing information to benefit organizations.
Upon his appointment, Dr. Alabi remarked: “I am excited to join the Omi Eko Project team. This opportunity is truly a dream come true. While the task ahead is enormous, it is certainly achievable.”
Dr. Alabi earned a PhD in English from the University of Lagos, with a focus on Language Use and Communication.
