Dangote Cement Provides Food Items to Kogi Orphanage

Through its Obajana Plant, Dangote Cement PLC has launched a series of community service initiatives as part of this year’s Sustainability Week in Kogi State.

In a statement, the company disclosed it aimed to engage and support local communities while raising awareness about sustainability.

Eseosa Ighile, the Head of the Sustainability Department at Dangote Cement Plc, emphasised the importance of the week, stating, “We are using the Sustainability Week to engage with and support local communities through donations and outreach.”

The Obajana Sustainability Champions were said to have visited the Ministry of Mercy Orphanage in Lokoja, during the week, where they delivered essential supplies and food items.

They also spent time with the children and residents, playing games with them.

Ighile noted that the initiative not only reinforced the company’s relationship with the orphanage but also uplifted employee morale through active community service.

The orphanage management expressed gratitude for their contributions, highlighting the positive impact of the visit.

Azad Nawabuddin, the Plant Director at Dangote Cement Plc, described the 2024 Sustainability Week as impactful, saying it aligned with the year’s theme: Sustainable Development Goal 11, which is sustainable cities and communities.

Nawabuddin added, “This year’s celebration was packed with activities involving employee and stakeholder engagement, as well as charity outreach programmes.”

The company said it used the sustainability week to educate young people about climate change and health-related issues.
