In an effort to support change and access to quality education for underprivileged children, Cowrywise is taking its commitment to community empowerment to the next level with the Cowrywise Super Cup—a football tournament aimed at social change. Set against the backdrop of a vibrant community, this tournament is uniting individuals and businesses in a shared mission: access to quality education for underprivileged children.
Cowrywise Financial Technology Limited, is a financial institution in Nigeria, aimed at building savings and investment culture among the growing population of underserved African middle class and millennials.
In Nigeria, access to quality education remains a pressing challenge, particularly for children from low-income families. According to a 2020 UNESCO statistic, 11 million Nigerian children between the ages 6-12 are currently out of school. Many of these children face barriers that hinder their educational journey, from financial constraints to limited resources. The Cowrywise Super Cup is designed to address this critical issue head-on by mobilising the community and engaging local businesses in an effort to change lives.
Combining the excitement of the game with a noble cause, Cowrywise aims to raise N1,000,000,000 (One Billion Naira) to help bridge the education gap in Nigeria.
The Cowrywise Super Cup will take place Saturday, 26th of October, at the Local Government Primary School, Muiz Banire Street, Ikeja GRA, at the newly-renovated football field, featuring teams from local businesses, such as Paystack, AltSchool, Food Concepts, Branch, Lenco, Dentsu Create, 500 Chow, Mixta Africa, Sycamore, ALX Africa and Princeps. According to a report by Cowrywise, some of these companies have pledged their donation toward the One Billion Naira initiative already.
These teams will compete not just for the trophy but for a greater cause – ensuring that underprivileged children receive the education they deserve.
The primary goal of this initiative is to sponsor the education of deserving children, giving the resources to thrive both academically and personally. And open doors to opportunities for them that might otherwise remain closed.
“Education is the foundation upon which a brighter future is built,” says Oludamola Olubajo, the Chief Convener of the event and Brand Storyteller at Cowrywise. “The Cowrywise Super Cup is our way of giving back and ensuring that these children have the chance to fulfill their potential.”
The Cowrywise Super Cup is open to everyone—whether by participating, attending, or donating.
