Egbin Power Launches Digital Skills Empowerment Program For Host Communities

Egbin Power Plc has rolled out a technology-focused empowerment initiative aimed at equipping youths in its host communities—Egbin, Ijede, and Ipakan—with in-demand digital skills. The program, part of the company’s Personal Corporate Social Responsibility (PCSR) agenda, seeks to improve employability, foster entrepreneurship, and expand access to opportunities within Nigeria’s growing digital economy.

During the programme launch at Egbin Power’s Ikorodu office, Chief Executive Officer Mokhtar Bounour stressed the importance of inclusive development in the digital era. “Technology is no longer optional but a critical driver of economic inclusion and growth,” he said, highlighting the need to bridge digital gaps and ensure communities are not left behind in economic progress.

The initiative will deliver structured training in ICT fundamentals, graphic design, full-stack web development, digital marketing, cybersecurity, and data analytics. Training combines classroom learning with practical, hands-on experiences to ensure participants acquire actionable skills. Selection of participants was based on curiosity, determination, and a willingness to learn, ensuring that beneficiaries are committed and motivated.

Beyond technical skills, the program places strong emphasis on workplace competencies such as professionalism, ethics, collaboration, problem-solving, and digital responsibility. Bounour urged participants to act as ambassadors, encouraging them to mentor others, apply their knowledge to local challenges, and use their skills to drive community growth.

The program’s initial cohort includes young residents from the three host communities, who will engage in immersive learning experiences designed to enhance career readiness and entrepreneurial potential. Bounour described the program’s long-term impact as creating “ripple effects through shared success and community development.”

Egbin Power’s Brand, Event, and PCSR Manager, Stella Olugbemi, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainable community development and trust-building. By investing in human capital, the company aims to create lasting value for its communities and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s digital economy.

The launch signals Egbin Power Plc’s proactive approach to corporate responsibility, positioning technology and skills development as a cornerstone for local empowerment and inclusive economic growth.
