Famasi Africa, a leading pharmacy platform in Nigeria, has announced the launch of CareCapital for Women — a six-week immersive programme designed to support female-owned and female-led pharmacies across the country.
The initiative aims to equip participants with essential business skills, access to capital, and direct funding to help them grow and strengthen their pharmacies.
Currently, around 83% of community pharmacies in Nigeria lack institutional finance, making it difficult for them to stock medicines, expand branches, or invest in improved systems.
Over the past 18 months, Famasi has partnered with more than 1,000 pharmacies, gaining insight into the challenges they face in serving their communities. Financial management and scaling remain significant hurdles, often resulting in limited access to medications for patients.
Through CareCapital For Women, Famasi will support 50 selected female-owned or female-led pharmacies, offering training in supply chain best practices, data analytics, and access to financing. The programme also guides in securing the right financing.
At conclusion, the top 6 participants will receive a grant of NGN10 million, along with diagnostic and telemedicine tools to enhance customer satisfaction.
Pharm. Adeola Ayoola, CEO/Co-founder of Famasi, said:
“Pharmacies are the first point of access to healthcare needs in emerging markets, so we’re enabling them with tools and resources to grow their business and deliver care to customers. Having spent the past 10 years working with pharmacies, I understand the challenges that hinder them from delivering care. Our work at Famasi has deepened our relationships with pharmacies across Nigeria, and now, we want to help them unlock growth and access to capital.”
Applications for CareCapital for Women close on 1 August 2025. Shortlisted pharmacies will be contacted by 15 August 2025, with the programme commencing on 17 August 2025.
