Federal Government in partnership with Huawei Trains 100 Directors in ICT

Huawei Technologies, Partners with FG

The Federal Government, in partnership with Huawei Technologies Company Nigeria Limited, has successfully trained 100 federal civil servants at the directorate level in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as part of the ICT for Change training program.

The training culminated in the presentation of awards to 16 outstanding participants during the closing ceremony on Monday, according to a statement by the Director of Press, Segun Imohiosen, at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

While presenting prizes to 16 outstanding participants at the closing ceremony of the fourth phase of the ICT for Change programme, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, thanked the Company for training more than 3,000 civil servants from different Ministries, Departments and Agencies on ICT since the commencement of the collaboration.

The SGF, who was represented at the event by Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Dr. Maurice Mbaeri said that the training will boost the capacity of civil servants in ICT to improve their service delivery in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu-led administration.

He also appealed to Huawei Technologies that the partnership be sustained and extended to other key sectors of the economy. He also used the platform to call on other development partners to join hands with the Federal Government in its quest to improve the socio-economic lives and welfare of its citizens.

Speaking earlier, Stephen Zou, Deputy Managing Director of Huawei Technologies, affirmed the company’s dedication to continuing its ICT training programmes, stating that the milestone reached is only the beginning. He emphasised Huawei’s commitment to equipping more civil servants with ICT skills to enhance governance and service delivery.

Francis Wasa, Director of ICT, thanked both the Federal Government and Huawei for their support in executing the training program. He applauded the participants for their exceptional performance and reiterated the need for ongoing efforts to enhance the proficiency of civil servants in ICT.

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, the Director ICT in the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Adebayo Adeyemi expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and Huawei Technologies for their collaborative efforts in building the capacity of Civil servants in ICT have helped to broaden their horizons on e-governance and other relevant subjects. He assures that the knowledge gained would be applied in the execution of their responsibilities to ensure more efficient governance and service delivery.
