As congratulatory messages continue to flood in for Malam Shehu Dikko, the newly appointed Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), the President of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, has also voiced his support. Infantino expressed full confidence in Dikko’s ability to rejuvenate Nigeria’s sports sector, given his extensive background in football administration.
In an official statement, Infantino emphasised that Dikko possesses the necessary expertise, experience, and dedication to effectively lead the NSC. “On behalf of the international football community, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes to you on your recent appointment as Chairman of the National Sports Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the FIFA President remarked.
Infantino further noted, “I am convinced that your knowledge, experience, passion, and personal qualities will have a significant impact on the accomplishments of your upcoming tasks. I wish you the best of luck and every success in facing the challenges that lie ahead. I look forward to seeing you again.”
Dikko, who previously served as Vice-President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His contributions to the NFF include leadership roles on key committees such as marketing and sponsorship, as well as membership in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Inter-Clubs Committee. He also continues to serve on the FIFA Football Stakeholders Committee.
With this appointment, Dikko is expected to leverage his extensive expertise and connections within the global football community to boost Nigeria’s sports sector, aiming for impactful growth and development across various sporting disciplines.
