Glovo, a leading platform connecting consumers, businesses, and riders across multiple categories of on-demand services, has announced a strategic partnership with the organizers of GITEX Nigeria Tech Expo & Future Economy Summit. This collaboration aims to identify a Nigerian tech startup founder to participate in the prestigious 2025 Glovo Startup Campus program scheduled for October in Barcelona, Spain.
The Glovo Startup Campus is an annual global initiative that brings innovative startups from key markets to its headquarters in Barcelona for an intensive program of mentorship, networking, and knowledge exchange focused on scaling impactful solutions. Traditionally, startups are selected through local competitions, with the winners representing their countries at the Campus in Spain.
For the first time, Glovo is extending this opportunity to Nigeria, aiming to empower a promising Nigerian startup with international exposure and support.
Lamide Akinola, Glovo Nigeria’s General Manager, emphasized that the partnership with GITEX Nigeria reflects Glovo’s dedication to elevating Africa’s burgeoning tech ecosystem and positioning the continent as a vital hub of global innovation. She highlighted that the 2025 Startup Festival provides a platform for exchanging ideas on digital inclusion, sustainable urban logistics, and how platform businesses can stimulate local economic growth.
Akinola expressed enthusiasm about the potential for collaboration, saying, “It’s inspiring to see entrepreneurs, investors, and tech leaders coming together to develop solutions for Africa’s unique challenges. She also noted that selecting a Nigerian startup for the program underscores Glovo’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial talent within the country. The initiative offers participating startups valuable exposure to international best practices, mentorship from industry experts, and access to a global network of innovation.
