LG Electronics Nigeria Warns Consumers Against Counterfeit TVs In Market

LG Electronics Nigeria has issued an urgent consumer alert over counterfeit televisions circulating across the country, urging buyers to exercise caution when purchasing LG products.

The warning follows disturbing online footage showing unauthorised sellers packaging non-LG TVs in fake LG cartons and labels, raising safety and performance concerns for unsuspecting consumers.

Brandspur Notes indicate that the counterfeit TVs pose serious risks, including poor performance, potential electrical hazards, and the absence of official LG warranties or after-sales support.

Moses Osime, public relations manager at LG Electronics Nigeria, emphasised that these products are not manufactured or distributed by LG or its authorised partners.

Consumers are advised to take several precautions to protect themselves. Only purchase LG TVs from official LG dealers and verified retail outlets, check factory seals, model numbers, serial codes, and warranty cards, and remain sceptical of deals that appear unusually cheap. LG also encourages users to register and verify their products through its official customer service channels.

LG Electronics Nigeria reiterated its commitment to public safety and product quality. “We are deeply concerned about the spread of counterfeit TVs and the potential harm they can cause to Nigerian families. Consumer safety and product authenticity remain our top priorities,” Osime said.

The company called on the public to stay vigilant and informed when shopping for electronics, highlighting that genuine LG products guarantee quality, safety, and reliable support. For verification and further guidance, consumers are encouraged to visit LG Electronics Nigeria’s official website.
