PZ Cussons Nigeria has reintroduced its hygiene brand, Carex, as part of its “Win the War Against Germs” campaign aimed at encouraging safe hygiene practices in households across Nigeria.
PZ Cussons Nigeria unveiled Carex’s new Masterbrand identity and an expanded line of antibacterial products, including handwash, bar soaps, and antiseptic liquids, during the unveiling on Wednesday in Lagos.
Oghale Elueni, Managing Director of PZ Cussons Nigeria, said the relaunch was more than a brand refresh, stating, “Carex has always stood for protection and care. This is more than just a Masterbrand relaunch. It’s about a bigger mission, to win the war against germs wherever you are, at home, at work, in school, or on the go.”
Martha Kayode, Head of Marketing, PZ Cussons Nigeria, said the brand had recommitted to safeguarding families with formulations that are both effective and gentle.
Kayode said, “This relaunch is a fresh start. A chance to renew our promise to Nigerian families. Every single product is formulated to kill one million plus germs in seconds while being kind to your skin,” she said.
Business community leaders including Jonny Baxter, the British Deputy High Commissioner, lauded PZ Cussons saying, “As we celebrate this milestone, let us also celebrate the spirit of partnership that makes it possible. Let us recognise the resilience of Nigerian consumers, the vision of companies like PZ Cussons, and the growing alignment between UK enterprise and Nigerian ambition.”

Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, First Lady of Lagos State, also praised the brand’s commitment to public health, stating that “Promoting everyday hygiene is essential to reducing the disease burden in our communities. Carex’s dedication to this cause is commendable.”
Thomas Shettima, General Secretary of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, described the relaunch as a major step in the association’s partnership with the company.
Shettima said, “This relaunch marks a significant milestone in NANNM’s collaboration with PZ Cussons, a partnership that has been guided by a clear sense of purpose, promoting health and hygiene through products that meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy.”
