Rémy Martin Unveils Bold New VS Supérieur in South Africa and Nigeria

The House of Rémy Martin has unveiled a new product, Rémy Martin VS Supérieur, a bold cognac created exclusively for Africa and launched simultaneously in South Africa and Nigeria in September 2025.

According to a statement by the company, the new blend is a modern reinterpretation of a historic label, crafted from grapes grown in the prized Petite Champagne cru at the heart of the Cognac region of France. Unlike the traditional Very Special cognac that ages for two years, the VS Supérieur undergoes a three-year maturation in French oak casks.

Ms Svetlana Naumova, Managing Director, Africa, Middle East, India and CIS, Rémy Cointreau, said the launch underscored the brand’s effort to connect with a new generation of consumers in Africa.

She said, “Rémy Martin VS Supérieur represents a bold step forward, honouring our rich heritage while embracing the vibrant lifestyle of South Africa and Nigeria. We’re confident this exceptional cognac, crafted from the heart of Petite Champagne, will resonate with a new generation of cognac lovers across the region.”

Mr Baptiste Loiseau, Cellar Master of the House of Rémy Martin, explained that the new blend reimagined a recipe created by his predecessors to suit today’s market.

He said, “A truly distinctive cognac for a new time and place. Bringing both immediacy and a long, memorable finish, Rémy Martin VS Supérieur encapsulates the signature freshness of Petite Champagne and vibrancy of the House, ready for a new generation of cognac lovers in Africa. It has been an honour to boldly reinterpret the legacy of my predecessors for the creation of this new release.”

The company noted that the Petite Champagne terroir offered limited vine cultivation space but benefited from exceptional growing conditions, producing eaux-de-vie of remarkable aroma, flavour and texture. It added that full distillation on the lees, a speciality of the House, gave the new blend a unique aromatic expression with a silkier texture and longer finish.

Rémy Martin stated that the VS Supérieur was designed for versatility, with consumers able to enjoy it neat, on ice, or in cocktails mixed with pineapple, sparkling fruit juice, lemonade or tonic.

The House of Rémy Martin, established in 1724, has upheld its legacy of crafting exceptional spirits for over three centuries. Its distinguished portfolio features Rémy Martin XO, Rémy Martin Club, Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal, Rémy Martin Tercet, and Rémy Martin V.S.O.P.
