Segilola Resources Operating Limited has won the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Oscar Award for Human Resources Best Practice in the mining sector.
The award ceremony was held in Abuja recently, to acknowledged organisations that excel in strategic HR, talent development, employee engagement, and diversity and inclusion.
The firm stated that the award, inaugurated in 2012, had further built its reputation as a leader in innovative and inclusive labour practices within the mining industry.
The company said, “This award signifies a recognition of excellence, which is a testament to SROL’s dedication to outstanding performance management; setting an industry benchmark in achieving organisational goals.”
It added that the award further boost its credibility among stakeholders and reinforced trust in its operations among investors, clients, and the community.
SROL Human Resources Director, Oluwaseun Fagesi, expressed delight in the company’s dedication to aligning its HR practices with local and international standards.
He said that SROL’s Segilola Gold Mine was one of the largest employers in Osun State, with 98% of its workforce being Nigerian, 44% from Osun State, and 28% from the local host community.
“This not only surpasses the commitments outlined in our Community Development Agreements but also positions the mine as a model for local employment and empowerment. He highlighted the company’s plan to enhance communication, collaboration and sustainability initiatives.
