In a continued push to empower the next generation, the NEPL/Seplat Energy Joint Venture has unveiled three new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) laboratories in Benin City, Edo State.
Commissioned on June 26, 2025, the cutting-edge labs are located at Niger College, Army Day Secondary School, and Oba Akenzua Secondary School. These join an existing trio of labs at Ihogbe College, New Era College, and Edo Boys High School, solidifying Seplat’s long-term investment in educational transformation within its host communities.
Fitted with modern educational tools, including computers, internet access, and specialized learning materials, the STEAM Labs aim to revolutionize how Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics are taught at the secondary level.
Chioma Afe, Seplat Energy’s Director of External Affairs & Social Performance, expressed gratitude to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and the government for creating an environment conducive to impactful educational initiatives. “We are excited to partner with the Edo State Ministry of Education to deliver quality education. These STEAM labs are designed to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation among students, equipping them for the demands of the 21st century,” she stated.
