Stanbic IBTC Holdings, a subsidiary of the Standard Bank Group, has announced the 2025 edition of its renowned University Scholarship Programme. This year, the programme will award full-tuition scholarships to 200 outstanding students who excel in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Valued at a total of ₦160 million, the initiative also includes a ₦800,000 trust fund for each recipient, designed to support their long-term financial growth alongside their academic pursuits.
Kunle Adedeji, Acting Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Holdings, reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to educational development as a vital driver of Nigeria’s progress.
“Education is the most powerful catalyst for transformation—both for individuals and for our nation. Through this scholarship programme, we’re not just covering tuition costs; we’re investing in Nigeria’s future leaders, innovators, and changemakers who will shape the country’s trajectory for decades to come,” Kunle stated.
Now in its seventh year, the Stanbic IBTC University Scholarship Programme has supported 590 students since its launch in 2019. The initiative aligns with the bank’s broader strategy of sustainable community investment, with a particular focus on education and human capital development.
Wole Adeniyi, Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Bank, emphasized the importance of education:
“Education is the foundation of development, and investing in the next generation of leaders is essential for Nigeria’s growth. Programs like this scholarship initiative empower young minds to realize their potential and contribute meaningfully to society,” he said.
The selection process maintains high standards, with recipients chosen based on their UTME scores, academic records, and leadership potential. The programme also emphasizes gender balance and supports students across diverse disciplines and institutions nationwide.
Eligible candidates must be Nigerian citizens who have taken the 2025 UTME examination and received admission into a Nigerian university for undergraduate studies.
