World Sight Day: Dufil Prima Foods Champions Disability Inclusion and Equal Opportunities

Dufil Prima Foods, the producer of  Indomie Instant Noodles, has once again demonstrated its dedication to social responsibility by partnering with the Resource Centre for the Blind to observe World Sight Day and White Cane & Safety Day 2025 with a community outreach in Lagos.

The event, held at the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Secretariat, carried the theme “Eye Care Everywhere” and gathered healthcare professionals, advocates for the visually impaired, community leaders, and residents for an engaging day focused on awareness, health screenings, and empowerment initiatives.

Aligning with this year’s global emphasis on accessible eye care, the outreach provided free eye examinations, distribution of medicated glasses, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, and essential medications.

Temitope Ashiwaju, Group Corporate Communications and Events Manager of Dufil Prima Foods, stated, “Our mission extends beyond nourishing bodies; we are committed to enriching lives in every aspect. Disability inclusion is a continuous journey, not just a one-off event. Partnering with the Resource Centre for the Blind allows us to promote advocacy, empowerment, and equality.”

The event featured educational sessions, including a talk by Dr. Mariam Olaniyan Fashola of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), who highlighted the dangers of traditional remedies and emphasized that eye care should be regarded as a fundamental right. “Access to quality eye care must be a national priority,” she affirmed. “Everyone deserves the opportunity to see clearly and live independently, regardless of their disability or income.”

A key highlight was the donation of white canes by Dufil Prima Foods to visually impaired participants, symbolizing mobility, independence, and societal inclusion.

A representative from the Resource Centre for the Blind, Executive Director Temitayo Ayinla, reflected on the importance of the day, saying, “We’re advocating not just for eye health but for a society that sees beyond disability. Celebrating World Sight Day and White Cane Safety Day together raises awareness for prevention and protection, fostering a more inclusive community.”

Attendees enjoyed a welcoming environment with free servings of Indomie noodles, emphasizing health, hospitality, and solidarity. Through this initiative, Dufil Prima Foods reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a society where no one is left behind, championing awareness and action for disability inclusion.
