ASEFON CALLS FOR FUTURE-READY SKILLS TO EMPOWER NIGERIAN STUDENTS AT NOELLA FOUNDATION EVENT.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students’ Engagement, Sunday Asefon, has stressed the need to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the 21st century.

Asefon said this at the Career Readiness Summit 2024, organized by the NOELLA Foundation. In his remarks, Asefon said the gathering was to reaffirm the commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders by the NOELLA Foundation.

According to him, the work landscape is evolving rapidly. Therefore, it is the collective responsibility of all to ensure that students are provided with the knowledge and tools to succeed in the 21st century.

“As we navigate this new era, we must prioritize collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity. Our goal is clear: to bridge the gap between education and industry, fostering a workforce that is adaptable, resilient, and future-ready.”

He spoke.He praised the organizers for their dedication towards student empowerment and congratulated the beneficiary students.

“To our beneficiaries of today’s event, [the] 5 students who were given 1 million naira each by the founder, 20 students who are to be trained for free in photography through the office of the SSA to the President on photography and another 20 students [chosen] for free tech training, I congratulate you all,” he said.

He encouraged the students to set career goals, define short-term and long-term objectives, and create an action plan to achieve them while seeking mentorship by identifying professionals or faculty members who could offer guidance and support.

Asefon further urged them to leave their comfort zones and explore new opportunities, internships, or entrepreneurial ventures.“And to the rest of our students, I want to emphasize that your voice matters.

Your aspirations, concerns, and ideas are the foundation [on] which we build our strategies. We are committed to listening, supporting, and amplifying your perspectives.” He stated.
