The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, has expressed her commitment to collaborating effectively with her predecessor, Mrs. Lola Ade-John, in order to ensure seamless governance and continuity within the Ministry.

Musawa made this pledge during the formal handover ceremony held at her office in Abuja. She praised Mrs. Ade-John for her significant achievements throughout her tenure and reiterated her dedication to building upon the strong foundation laid by her predecessor in the tourism sector.

“This moment is bittersweet for me,” Musawa said. “Sweet because I can see the progress in the industry, particularly in tourism, which offers a unique opportunity to advance Nigeria’s standing in this vital sector. However, it is bitter for me to see someone who has worked so diligently not have the chance to complete the journey.”

She continued, “I promise you that everything you have accomplished will be recognised. Any new developments or announcements I make will be credited to your hard work, and I will ensure that the administration, the President, and everyone in the industry knows that these achievements are yours.”

In her parting speech, Mrs. Ade-John expressed her deep gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in his administration and assured Minister Musawa of her full support.

“I am thankful for the immense support I received from the Directors-General, Heads of Departments, and my dedicated aides,” Ade-John remarked. “I would like to particularly thank Minister Musawa, who is also my sister. She was the only minister who visited me in my home after I returned from my recovery in the United Kingdom.”

She concluded, “I pledge to assist and support her in her efforts to further develop the tourism industry, which is vast and holds tremendous potential. I will also encourage others in the industry to offer their support as well.”
